Have you ever wondered what it takes to make true spiritual leaders? The kind or spiritual leaders that churches need are not made over night and although classroom instruction is important there is much more to the making of a leader than simply sitting behind a desk and listening to lectures.

Jesus provided us a great example in how he taught his disciples. They learned not only from his teaching but also by simply spending time with him and observing his actions. Jesus often took his disciples away from the crowds where he could privately spend time with them far from the distractions of the world. As a result of this process Jesus produced a handful of individuals whose impact on the world is still being felt today!

Because we recognize the value of this type of intensive training we are teaching “Spiritual Leadership” this summer in an unusual way. We call it the “Extreme Institute”. This course will be taught July 27th through August 6th in conjunction with a 10 day, 72 km hiking trip in the mountains along Ukraine’s Crimea Coast. This course is only being offered to those who have already proven themselves to be worthy students. Academic standards will be the same as in the classroom, but the surroundings will be completely different.

Students will be encouraged through much closer fellowship with one another and with their teachers. They will have opportunity to interact not only during the specific teaching sessions, but every morning as they prepare for the day, during meal times, as they hike along the way and in the evenings before bed. Not only will they be learning together they will be living and working together away from the distractions of daily life. This provides an excellent environment for the creation of true spiritual leaders.

The total cost per student is about $150 of which the students are covering $50 themselves. That means we still have a need for about $100 per student to completely cover the cost of this course. Currently we have 16 students signed up.

We believe this will have a great impact on all who attend and the results will not stop with the students but will continue to have a positive influence in their churches as well!
